About Ritchie

Ritch, a resident of Waterloo with a background in electrical work, faced economic challenges in the 1980s, leading him to work on various projects in different states. Returning to the Cedar Valley in 1991, he became a key figure in IBEW Local Union 288, serving as Business Manager and then as Market Development coordinator. Committed to community service, Ritch is involved in local organizations and events, demonstrating a passion for volunteering.

 

With a wealth of experience, including leadership roles and recognition for his efforts, Ritch aims to leverage his expertise by running for Black Hawk County Supervisor. Known for his problem-solving approach and commitment to being part of the solution, Ritch emphasizes his practical and hands-on perspective, shaped by his 44 years as an IBEW member and 27 years as a labor leader.

Points of Candidacy

Work to keep our communities safe, while serving the working men and women of our county
  • Securing equitable Services for our 911 services

    • Addressing understaffing

    • Address disparity in funding

    • Expanding operation facilities

  • Support our public safety by

    • Full staffing our county deputies

    • Full staffing our civil detention officers

    • Continued & expanded training

Connecting the residents with the necessary resources available and making sure they continue to be available
  • Outreach with Departments

    • Host public forums with Sheriff, Assessor, Veteran Affairs

    • Establish a rural outreach committee

    • Connecting people with services

​Looking to work with local government on behalf of the County
  • Commitment to connecting with each of our cities periodically.

    • Annual visits with City Council meetings

    • Assisting our communities for their needs & services

    • Fostering economic development

Qualifications

  • Financial Management - Trained and demonstrated in holding a fiduciary responsibility.

  • Asset Management - Ability to make every dollar work wisely. 

  • Great Listener - Always open to hearing ideas and has insight to on going issues.  

  • Conflict Resolution - Experience in addressing and resolving concerns.

  • Demonstrated Leadership -  Ability to network with key community leaders.
